SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 22 MEETING-STEPHEN MERRYWEATHER PRESENTS: LOUDSPEAKERS-LEGENDS, INVENTIONS, AND UNICORNS We will have a RARE opportunity to hear various rare and remarkable vintage drivers encompassing a range of audio history from the 1940s through the 1970s. They are in various enclosures designed or modified by Stephen Merryweather and driven by a number of vintage tube amps. There will be two separate listening rooms on two different floors of a 100+ year old warehouse/onetime dairy building. The 2nd floor listening room will contain some of the following: Loudspeakers: Hartley 10" Transmission Line, Altec Highly Modified 846B, Stephen's original modular design "Stonyette", and a Karlsen cabinet with full-range Hartley and JBL drivers. Electronics: Luxman CL-35 III tube preamp (Tim de Paravicini design) , Quad II Tube Monoblock Amps with KT-77 tubes For the 3rd floor listening room: Loudspeakers: RCA LC-1A 15" Full Range (Harry Olsen design,circa 1948), Wharfedale SFB/3 (Gilbert Briggs' alternative to Quad-ESL57's, circa 1957) w/2 full-range drivers, GE full-range (circa late 50s) Electronics: Du Kane 50w Monoblock Tube Amps, Mojo Audio Mystique V3 NOS DAC Source material will be all CD on the 2nd floor and mainly CD on the 3rd floor, so do bring a favorite track (~4-5 minutes or less) to hear.
