Electronics Manufacturers: Power Amps, Preamps, Integrated Amps
​​Vacuum Tube-based and Vacuum Tube/Solid State Hybrids:

  • Ampsandsound - A small family business in Southern California that hand builds Power Amplifiers, Headphone Amplifiers and a Step Up Transformer.  They also have a line of accessories and a 2-way and a 3-way loudspeaker.  Their amplifier designs are born from a love for the legendary vacuum tube power amplifiers of midcentury America.
  • Atma-sphere - World's premiere OTL and triode amplifier manufacturer using a Balanced Differential Design®.  Located in St. Paul, MN.
  • Audio Note UK - A UK-based company founded in 1991.  They are the largest European manufacturer of ultra-performance valve-based audio equipment.  Their products include electronics for both analogue and digital music.  Their analogue products include turntables, tonearms, cartridges and step-up transformers.  Their digital music products include CD players, CD transports and DACs.  They also manufacture vacuum tube-based power amps, preamps, integrated amps, loudspeakers and cables.
  • Audio by Van Alstine - The company is located in Woodbury, MN and was founded by Frank Van Alstine in the 1980s.  They manufacture of solid-state power amps & solid-state, vacuum tube hybrid preamps (Fet Valve CFR preamplifier &  Transcendence 10 RB Preamplifier), digital preamps and a DAC. They are a direct-sales company.
  • ​Audio Research - A Minneapolis, Minnesota-based manufacturer of tube-based audiophile amps, preamps, integrated amps, phono preamps and DACs.  The company was founded by Bill Johnson in 1970.
  • Balanced Audio Technology (BAT) - Founded in 1995 and based in Wilmington, DE, this company manufactures high-end audiophile fully-balanced tube and solid-state electronics, including amps, preamps, integrated amps and phono preamps.
  • Bob Carver Corp. - A Rockford, IL-based manufacturer of audiophile vacuum tube power amps and preamps.
  • Border Patrol - A company located in Bristow, VA that manufactures a number of Vacuum Tube Amplifiers that use the ever-popular 300B triode in single-ended, parallel single-ended and push-pull configurations, as well as a DAC that uses a tube rectified power supply.
  • Cary Audio Design - A North Carolina-based manufacturer of highly-regarded vacuum tube amplifiers, preamplifiers and CD players, as well as solid state Home Theater electronics.​
  • Conrad-Johnson - A manufacturer of vacuum tube-based audiophile power amps, preamps, control amps, headphone amps and  phono preamps.  The company was founded in 1977 by Dr. William Conrad and Dr. Lewis Johnson.
  • Convergent Audio Technology (CAT) - A high-end manufacturer of audiophile vacuum tube-based power amps and preamps.  The company is located in Rush, NY and was founded by Ken Stevens in 1993. CAT’s philosophy is to design their products to neither add to, nor detract from, the music.
  • David Berning - Established in 1974, The David Berning Company manufactures Vacuum Tube Audio Amplifiers and Preamps, as well as a guitar amplifier.  Their  Vacuum Tube Audio Amplifiers are based on a unique Impedance Converter that replaces the traditional audio power output transformer and greatly extends and improves amplifier performance. They call their technology "ZOTL" for Zero-Hysteresis Output Transformerless.  Operating at a fixed high-frequency without traditional audio output transformers, the ZOTL Impedance Converter eliminates the frequency-dependent performance limitations inherent in all other transformer coupled tube amps.
  • Luxman - A Japanese company founded in 1925 that manufactures both vacuum tube-based and solid-state electronics for high-end, two channel home stereo systems. Their product line includes power amps, preamps, headphone amps, integrated amps, CD players, SACD players, USB DACs, phono preamps, turntables, a moving coil (MC) cartridge and cables.
  • New Audio Frontiers - The company was founded by Maurizio and Ferdinando Zanichelli in 1980.  It is located in Viadana, Italy.  The company was born from passion for music and from the desire of recreating its magic through a sound production that only live listening can create.  They manufacture Vacuum Tube-based Amps, Preamps, Integrated Amps and Phono Stages.
  • Purity Audio Design - Manufacturer of Vacuum Tube-Based Preamps.  
  • Raven Audio - A Texas-based designer and manufacturer of award-winning high-performance consumer-level vacuum tube amplifiers.   Their product line includes vacuum tube-based power amps and integrated amps, cables and loudspeakers.
  • Rogue Audio - The company was founded in 1996 by Mark O'Brien, who worked previously at Bell Labs.  The company is located in Pennsylvania and manufactures high-end Vacuum Tube-based Amps, Preamps, Integrated Amps, Headphone Amps and Phono Stages.
  • Valve Amplification Company (VAC) - VAC was founded in 1990 by Kevin Hayes and his father, Channing W. Hayes in Sarasota, FL.  It's equipment is very highly regarded. VAC manufactures high-end audiophile vacuum tube-based power amps, preamps and integrated amps.
  • Von Gaylord Audio - 
  • VTL Amplifiers, Inc. - High end manufacturer of Vacuum Tube electronics based in Cino, CA.  Their equipment is handmade in  the USA.
  • Zesto Audio - Zesto Audio was founded by George and Carolyn Counnas in 2010 in Thousand Oaks, CA.  Zesto Audio is a manufacturer of fine analog audio electronics, specializing in vacuum tube technology for the audiophile market.  Their product line includes a step up transformer, three different phonostages, a preamplifier and two high-powered amplifiers.
Solid State Electronics:
  • Audia Flight - An Italian company that designs and manufactures high quality home audio components.  The company manufactures solid-state power amps, preamps, integrated amps, CD players and SACD players.  It was founded in 1996 by Massimiliano Marzi and Andrea Nardini.
  • Audio by Van Alstine - The company is located in Woodbury, MN and was founded by Frank Van Alstine in the 1980s.  They manufacture of solid-state power amps & solid-state, vacuum tube hybrid preamps, digital preamps and a DAC. They are a direct-sales company.
  • Benchmark Media Systems - Benchmark manufactures high-end audiophile electronics including power amps, line amps (preamps), headphone amps, DACs and cables. Benchmark began in 1983 as the "Benchmark Sound Company", a small operation working out of a garage in Garland, Texas.   The company was incorporated as Benchmark Media Systems, in 1985, and relocated to Syracuse, NY. 
  • Boulder Amplifiers - A company located near Boulder, CO that has been building amplifiers since the mid-1980s. They started out building amps for pro audio applications in recording studios and moved into high-end audiophile stereo amps in the mid 1990s.  They have won numerous awards over the years, and their current line of products include solid-state power amps, preamps, integrated amps, phono preamps, a preamp/DAC and DACs.
  • Bricasti Design - Manufacturer of audiophile Amps, Preamp, DACs, Streamers and Network Players.  The company is based in Shirley, MA.
  • Bryston - A Canadian-based manufacturer of audiophile solid-state power amps, preamps, phono preamps, DACs, power isolation devices, Home Theater amps and preamps, and loudspeakers (active, passive and wireless).
  • Burmester Audio - A German high-end audiophile company that manufactures a full line of products for home audio use.  Their product line includes Turntables, Tonearms, Moving Coil Cartridges, CD Players, floor-standing and In-wall Loudspeakers, Solid State Preamplifiers, Power Amplifiers, Integrated Amps, a Power Conditioner and for digital music, Network Music Servers.
  • Chord Electronics - A British company that manufactures Solid State electronics including Streamers, Phono Stages, Upscalers, DACs (both standalone and mobile), Preamps, Power Amps and Integrated Amps.
  • Classé - A manufacturer of high-end audiophile Solid State Power Amps and Preamps.  Founded in  in 1979 by Mike Viglas and David Reich.
  • Dan D'Agostino Master Audio Systems - A manufacturer of high-end audiophile solid-state fully-balanced electronics including power amps, preamps, integrated amps and phono preamps.  The company is located in Cave Creek, AZ and was founded in 2011.
  • Elac - A manufacturer of reasonably priced electronics and loudspeakers, located in California.
  • Empirical Design - A company from Oregon that manufactures high-end audio analog and digital interconnects, speaker and power cables, and computer cables. They sell primarily to end users over the Internet. 
  • Grandinote - An Italian company producing a line of audiophile loudspeakers and solid-state electronics. The company was founded by it's current CEO, Massimiliano Magri, an electronic engineer. The company's electronics use "Magnetosolid® Technology", which uses "tube amplifier schematics" with solid state devices.  Their CEO claims that he has designed the best marriage of tube and solid-state electronics and that all Grandinote devices use solid state components, but their sound is rich and natural, like tube devices.
  • Infigo Audio - A Canadian company founded in 2020 by Hans Looman that manufactures high-end solid-state power amps, preamps, DACs, and cables.
  • Luxman - A Japanese company founded in 1925 that manufactures both vacuum tube-based and solid-state electronics for high-end, two channel home stereo systems. Their product line includes power amps, preamps, headphone amps, integrated amps, CD players, SACD players, USB DACs, phono preamps, turntables, a moving coil (MC) cartridge and cables. 
  • PS Audio - A manufacturer of high-end solid state electronics including, power amps, preamps, DACs, power regenerators, streamers and now, speakers located in Boulder, CO.  PS Audio was founded in 1973 by audio designers Paul McGowan and Stan Warren (with whose initials the company was named). 
  • Sanders Sound Systems - An Internet-Direct company located in Colorado that specializes in Electrostatic Loudspeakers (ESL), Amplifiers and Preamps.
  • van den Hul - A Netherlands-based company founded in 1980.  They manufacture precision handmade Moving Coil (MC) Phono Cartridge masterpieces. All van den Hul cartridges are hand built and tuned by Dutch Master cartridge designer A.J. van den Hul and his son William van den Hul. They also manufacture Cables, Phono Preamps, a Mono-Block Power Amp and Preamplifiers.  
  • Vinnie Rossi Audio - Manufacturer of high-end audiophile Solid State electronics. The comapny was founded in 2004, and is headquartered in Holden, MA.  They manufacture a Preamp, a Power Amp and an Integrated Amp.
