January 20
Rick Diekman of Controlled Thermal Processing, gave an interesting presentation on cryogenic treatment, including audio equipment. WCES report
February 17
CAS member Matthew May demoed and spoke about gear he has tweaked or built himself, including a Fisher 200B tuner, a modified Dynaco PAS-2 preamp, Eico HF-89 amplifier, & a tube AM tuner he built from scratch. CAS officer elections.
March 17
John Huff of Huff Loudspeaker Co. demoed System One satellites, using twin ceramic mid-woofers & optional Raven R2 ribbon tweeters & Sub One using extremely long throw twin 12" woofers in a push-pull configuration. Electronics used were: CTC Blowtorch preamp, Philips SACD 1000 player, main speakers were driven by a Jeff Rowland Model 12 amp, & subs by a Sunfire amp.

Bruce Fetherling & Brian Urfer of Acoustic Dreams demoed Lumenwhite Whitelight loudspeakers, VAIC Audio tube electronics (52B monoblocks), gear from dCS (Verdi SACD/CD transport, Purcell 24/192 digital upsampler, & Delius 24/192 D/A converter) and Shunyata (cabling and Hydra power conditioner), & an advanced equipment rack they make.
May 19
CAS member Gregg Straley demoed some of his cabling & other tweaks from Mapleshade that he finds to be effective. He also showed how to determine correct AC plug polarity. Playback system included an Audiomat integrated amp, Stan Warren modified-Aiwa transport & MSB DAC combo & PMC FB1 speakers.
June 23 (4th Sunday)
Michael Hobson &Coleman Brice of Classic Records demo recordings & spoke about their new vinyl formulation, Quiex SV-P. Gilles Gameiro of Birdland Audio demoed an Odéon-Ag 24bit / 192KHz upsampling DAC & Pleyel-Ag amp (stereo 18 watt/ch or 65 watt mono). Side-by-side 24/96 digital CD recordings vs. vinyl playback, using Pioneer DV-525 DVD player as transport & Birdland DAC vs. a SOTA Cosmos/SME V/Kiseki Purpleheart with output through a Vendetta SCP-2T phono stage. Each was connected to Audiomat Solfege integrated amp, powering Ohm PRO-200 Sound Cylinder Speakers.
July 21
Music listening session using CAS member-assembled system consisting of: Stan Warren modified-Aiwa transport & MSB DAC combo, as well as Birdland DAC, new PS Audio HCA-2 digital amp & Ohm PRO-200 Sound Cylinder Speakers.
August 18
Robert Maicks of Audio Machine & Design spoke about vibration coupling techniques used in Audio Points equipment racks and stands, & in Sonoran Audio cabling.
September 15
Dr. Bruce Edgar of Edgarhorn demoed his Edgarhorn Titan Speakers including subwoofer. 1st meeting at the new venue: Arlington Heights Historical Society.
October 20
Mark Seaton & Tom Danley, of ServoDrive-Sound Physics Labs demoed the Unity horn speakers and the ContraBass ServoDrive subwoofer, using Linn equipment provided by the local Linn representative.
November 17
Ray Samuels of Ray Samuels Audio demoed the op amp-based Emmeline CA-2 line stage, Emmeline XR-2 phono stage & tube-based Emmeline RS-1A. A turntable was used for the first part of the program, followed by comparisons of digital playback through the different line stages. Ohm PRO-200 Sound Cylinder Speakers were driven by PS AudioHCA-2 digital amp.
December 15
Brian Bowdle of Venus Hi-Fi demoed Final Lab electronics (battery powered), Living Voice Avatar speakers , & Audio Note CD player, as well as cables and isolators.
